Hi girls,

It is freezing here too. And really windy

Julie your weekend away sounds wonderful, I think I could do with a mini-break atm. I have never been on a scrappy weekend (is that a retreat?)

mandy that pic is wonderful.

Stay warm girls, I'm trying to

Thanks girls.... I'm stuck at the theatre on and off today. Its lunchtime now. Lucky I live only a few streets away so can come home.
you should try a scrappy retreat shauna.... save your money and head to LA for a little escape up there...its WONDERFUL!

I miss not going there this year

If you want cold... then come stay with me.... and I can show you cold

Its just the most miserable weather at the moment... hideous... rain cold and wind... :|

Hi all, where do I begin..... Took a quick decision to fly back to South Africa from New Zealand to be with my mom for 10 day after she had a stroke. Was extremely sad to see my dear mom so frail and fragile in the hospital - a huge shock for me  What I did not anticipate during my visit, was that I had to pack up her apartment - very distressing for me. Unfortunately due to the stroke, there was no way my mom would be going back to live on her own. So sad for her!! She so loved her little happy place.

The upside of my visit is that I got to spend time with my eldest brother and his daughter and her gorgeous family. I had not seen them for 4 years so it was good to catch up with them. It was good to have us all supporting each other during this distressing time.

For now, we have placed my mom in the good care of Hospice. All we can now do is to take it day by day, month by month. But it does seem at this stage that mom will most likely be moved to frail care at some stage.

And then on my return to NZ this weekend, I go and get floored with viral Vertigo!! How hectic is that!! So now I am recovering at home, booked off from work and trying to look after myself. Really need to pour myself into scrapbooking.... I need the therapy!!

Oh no, Jannee......that is sad that your dear Mum has had to leave her home. I do hope she recovers from it all. It sounds like you have had a rather stressful time of late. Take care of yourself.

Thinking of you and your family Jannee - I watched my dad go through something similar with his mum, but luckily the family all lived in the same city. Still, it wasn't a great experience, but times like that sure do make you appreciate family!

I'm struggling a bit this week! Back to training with the PT (today nearly killed me!). But I know I'll be better for it in the long run, so just trying to suck it up and get back into a good routine. I've been put on notice at work - no more baking lol! Oh well, have to start looking up some different ideas for dinners so I don't get bored eating the same food.

I've still managed to get a little scrapping done - I'm almost finished a mini chipboard album for a friend who's expecting a baby boy in September. I was hoping to have it finished for his birthday but it didn't happen - I might just send it down when it's done (hopefully before bub arrives!).

Enjoy your retreat Julie & try to stay warm Mandy & Shauna :-)

{{hugs}} Jannee...I am thinking of you, too. Take care of yourself!
yay Julie...sounds like just what you need!

Hi all....It's cold here too...roll on summer is all I can say!! I hope to get some crafty things done over the next few days. I started an Art Course on the 4th and need to work on getting my first assingment in by the end of the month. Got to look after my nieces twin boys (3year olds  ) tomorrow. Thankfully I'll have Miss 16 and Mr 13 to help me though.

Have a good Friday!

Hug Jannee. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Would love to see some of the stuff you are doing in your art course Julze.

Got the day of so I can get sorted for my weekend away. Seeing as I haven't packed and I still need to get some more cardstock and a few things at the shop I so need it. Nothing like leaving it till the last minute.

Hugs Jannee, we are going through the same thing with my Great Aunt (81 - my nana's sister) in England at the moment :( She has no family, never married, no children... and is the last one left - so we've all thrown in to send my Dad over as soon as his passport is ready because she cant stop crying and misses him so much. THank goodness Meaghan is over there, she's doing what she can (my Aunt keeps calling her Hannah as she's on morphine patches now and gets a little confused and hasnt got long) It will be the first time my Dad has gone back to England since he left as a 15yrold. It will be a very big emotional journey for him.
I can imagine how torn you must feel living so far away.

We've been at the theatre and won again last night... just got to get through tonight and the comps are all over. I fly out first thing tomorrow morning for work in Melbourne until Tuesday.
THe painting in our house is still going on and on and on.... I feel like its never ending! Thats taking my time up today :|

Thanks all, just really sad for my mom to be like this. She is such an independent person, a real gracious lady, this is soooo what I hoped would not happen to her. Very difficult I guess on the only daughter as I am, being so far away.

So sorry to hear that you are also going through this Mandy. Always tough on our dear aging family members - these horrible old age ailments.

So I really think I need to get some scrapbooking underway to take my mind off things. Did a bit of cleanup of my scraproom this morning, so ready to loose myself in a scrapbooking project. Need my mojo back.

I've just finished the album I've been working on so I'm planning to clean up the table and start on another challenge after dinner. I might have a look at Julie's card challenge next. Just a lazy, quiet night at home for me!

I don't have kids to run around after Julia - makes for a lot more scrapping time :-)
