When you tell white lies to cover up your habit...
"I spent ALL day doing housework"! - when really you spent it in your pj's in front of your craft desk
"There wasn't much on special at the supermarket" - when your other half wonders why he's eating baked beans all week cause you spent half the grocery money on supplies
"I have a headache" - when scrapping is a more attractive activity than going to bed with your husband =)
When you cut the buttons off your old worn out clothes before throwing them out
Sandra I have been eyeing off my fav pair of pj bottoms for the past 3 MONTHS! I know I'll be devastated to lose them, but on the other hand they've got these cute pink butterfly shaped buttons on them...
(And I may have eaten instant noodles with tinned tuna for a few nights to make up for buying new scrappy goods...)
where were you girls 5 hours ago when I had to write a humourous speech with 5 minutes to spare - this could have really worked for me - keep it up my sleeve for next time - keep sharing your how do you knows girls
One of the straps on my handbag broke while I was on holidays, and I sat down to remove the buckles & badge from it "just in case" I could use it on a new layout....
And I may have chosen my replacement handbag because it has a really cute birdcage keyring/tag on it that could totally be re-purposed...
My mother passed away about 4 1/2 years ago, and I've been putting off going through the last of her things I had stored in the garage. However, with several weeks holiday up my sleeve, I made up my mind to sort it all out. The things that I was just hanging on to for sentimental reasons, I decided I would photograph, and then scrapbook them, having got rid of said items. I am almost disappointed to find, that there is actually very little to photograph! There are one or two items, and LOTS OF PHOTOS to sort out, but most of what I had there, really was just rubbish or not worth worrying about. One thing I do want to photograph is a little 'cupie' doll that Mum used to take with her as a mascot to Bible Class camps. I found photos of a group at a camp with the doll being held in the front row! So that will definitely be a page to do at some time. Also, I have a Royal Doulton musical jug that I've had for a number of years that belonged to my grandparents. My cousin has been asking for it ever since I got it, as it was her Dad that gave it to Grandma & Grandad. So, I finally decided to let her have it, but guess what? I'm going to be taking photos first!!!! LOL Sometimes we just hold on to stuff because it holds memories for us, but since I became a scrapbooking addict, I now have a way to 'free' myself of unnecessary clutter but still hold onto the memories.
I never thought of it that way Christine but that's an awesome idea! Being in a defence family we get moved around quite a bit and clutter is something I'm trying to minimise (which has been difficult for me - mum still has all of my school stuff at her place from kindergarten onwards - she's a "collector" too). Next time that I'm feeling ruthless I'll have my camera on hand to make letting go of the clutter a little easier...
