A Christmas LO!
INGREDIENTS: Three photos that have faces (people/ animals) cut into circle shapes (about 7 ½ cms wide each) 2 12x12 papers - one as the base and one to place on top. ( the top layer – plain-ish or could have some pics in the corners like the christmas paper of Lost and Found 2. If you have only patterned paper you may want to paint the middle to take the pattern down a bit Contrasting coloured Jute (thick string or thick embroidery thread, thick wool) 3 lots of approx 75cms (Mine is the same colour of my base 12x12) Ordinary white or cream string or you may want to use very fine ribbon. Alpha journaling block (optional) Xmas embellies of your choice! Distresser/ink/sander (optional) foam mounting tape (optional)
Step One Distress/ink/sand your first (and very) background 12x12 paper (optional) And take approx 1cm off all edges of your second 12x12 - distress/ink/ sand that too if you like. Your smaller paper will centre on top of your background paper – but before we do that… we want use some of the background paper for an embellishment later on…. soooooo snip out the centre of your (very) background paper , enough so you will still cover the hole with the smaller paper. Once you’ve done that- stick your smaller paper on top of the background paper so that its framed. Then draw a boarder around your smaller paper anywhere up to 1cm from the edge.
Step Two Distress/ink/sand your circle photos (so long as they are replaceable ones- you may not like to do this to original or old irreplaceable photos) Mine measure about 7½ cms wide Place your circle photos on either your left of right side of the LO however you like so long as you only use one vertical half of your LO for the photos – we need the other side for something else (wink) Keep in mind that these Circles will be baubles!
Step Three Using your thick jute – we need to make a circle shape to go around your photo winding around twice with a bow up top. Takes a bit of a fiddle but it does work. With my 7 ½ cm circles, it takes 71cms of jute for each one. You can stick your photos and your jute down. Stick a piece of jute (ribbon or anything you like) running from the bow on your photo to the top of your LO (like its hanging) Do this for all three bauble photos.
Step Four Now we are going to make three little presents using the centre piece you cut out of your background paper (of course you can use any paper you like but hopefully your background paper will contrast nicely) Cut rectangles/square out approx: 8x4cms 4 ½ x 3 ½ cms 4 x 4 cms
Step Five Using your thinner string…. tie each piece up like a parcel with a bow at the top of the present (There is another way to make it look like a parcel...just cut two short pieces of string and make a cross to put on the front of the present - then do a bow for the top) You can either use glue or foam mounting tape or a mixture of both to arrange your presents on the opposite side of your LO to your bauble photos, but near the bottom.
Step Six Add journal box if you have one and your title above the presents and any other embellishments to make it your own!! Then you are finished!!
If you want to see any clarification to these steps, some are discussed in the other Chatty thread here: viewtopic.php?f=324&t=10840
