Love those photos Lani & Julez!
I wanted to go back down to Lake Monger this afternoon to see if I could get a photo with the sunset happening, but my car is off the road & I can't borrow DH's car for long enough to do it! Hopefully my car will be back on the road tomorrow, but might have to make do with the local lake rather than the one 20 minutes away!

I took this photo tonight just as the sun was setting. I has gone to feed my horses and this was the view of the sky. The clouds and the light made the sky look a bit like a sand dune What do you think Tiff?

what a beautiful shot of a sunset Danni. The rich and textured clouds really make this shot.
I wouldn't call this a landscape shot as gorgeous as it it. There is very little 'land' scape in this shot and the sky is the overpowering message in this one. So it would be a 'sunset/sunrise' category.
If there was a good strong third of the shot as the 'land'scape, even tho its in black silhouette, then it would balance out the sky a bit. But by doing that you would have had to lose some of the sky.
Sometimes it's easier to take the shot both ways. Meaning - all the sky, like the way you've done it here, and then another shot were you've recomposed to include more foreground and take the shot.
That way you'll have a choice of shots when you're back on the computer.

Thanks Tiff for your comments, you are right that it is more of a sunset category photo. I did have a couple of photos with some 'landscape' however being just on dark most of it was black and not much silhouetted Will keep on trying

I definitely sympathise Pepper!! I was on the bus home from uni today just as the sun was setting over a SA Water reservoir and it looked amazing!! My car broke down on Saturday night and is taking a week and a half and $3000 to fix But when it's up and running again (fingers crossed) I will be heading back to that reservoir one evening to try and get some of those awesome sunlight over water photos I've seen around here

you have no idea how happy I am to hear that you are starting to 'see' things around you as potential photography material. You are starting to visualise the potential of what you are seeing and the best time of day to best capture it.
You guys are so awesome.
hope those cars are back on the road asap for you Lani_Kate and Pepper.

Thanks Tiff - I'm hoping mine will be back on the road by the time I get home from work today - just need a break from the rain so DH can get under it again - no shelter here for him when he's working on it (but he can't complain, considering he's filled the garage up with machines!). Hopefully will get to check Lake Joondalup out around sunset tonight, as I'll be in that area!
And yours too Lani Kate. i thought i was being clever taking some in the misty morning the other day too LOL! so i had a laugh when i saw you did too!!! mine is the view from our front vernadah

Where about are you Pepper. I used to live up north oh so many years ago.
I'm in Marangaroo, Julie - been in this house for nearly 17 years!
The weather was terrible this afternoon, so I didn't get a chance to take my camera out again... so I've been a bit naughty and put a photo from my NZ holiday at Christmas time in the competition gallery - feel free to disqualify it if that's not allowed, since I didn't take it this month LOL!
