try the sunny side Julez and have another go. The light on an overcast day would be even better. It's even and you wont lose the tiny details in the petals. (veins).

then you can compare the two.

hey there Belinda.
Isn't he a cutie pootie!!

TIP.
***You mentioned that he had on his sister's pink PJ' bottoms on. I did forget to mention that clashing colours in clothing can be eliminated by converting that shot into BW. Thank you for reminding me of that. And also that with BW photos, you can choose what ever range of PP's that take your fancy, rather than be limited according to the coloured photo(s).***

Now then, Rory is a bit out of focus. I reckon you may have had the camera a little bit too close to him and the lens was unable to lock the focus on him. Try shifting yourself back a bit and use your zoom to get in close. Or, take it from further back and then crop into the shot on your computer later on. Remember to focus on his eyes!!! The side lighting is wonderful, as it gives his face roundness and dimension. It's just not a flat 2d seeming shot. The light objects next to his ear and on the right edge are a bit distracting tho.

hope this helps a bit. It's wonderful that he's so keen to get his photos. Get 'em while you can!!

tiff :)

awww. shucks Timps. It didn't come easy.

I studied for my Diploma of Photography and I've had a some influences that really helped me get my feet under me.
Pete Dobre.
Laura Smith
Ann Clarke.

We all go out shooting with each other as often as we can. Laura and Ann live near where I do so I see them a fair bit.

I'm doing a trip with Pete to the Great Ocean Rd next March.

I've been very blessed to be surrounded my such talent.

naaawwww. how cute Karen, especially with DS son reaching around Dad's chin.

You've done well with getting all of you in the 'selfie' pose. This is certainly a photo worthy of scrapping.

I just tried to upload this but it didn't work so putting it here.

Took this today of Josh at a family function, I couldn't resist capturing his look of weariness during all the speeches!
