scoutannie. I suspect you may be too close to the feather for the lens to focus. Back off just a bit and see if the auto focus grabs the feather for you. Try to get it to focus on the important part of it. Then when on your computer, crop into the image to get rid of the excess room around it.

f5.6 will be fine, in your case, more of the feather will be in focus. you'll need good light to get a good crisp image.

you can upload your image that you consider your best shot for the macro challenge prize here Only images in this folder will be judged for the $25 voucher from the shop. So at this stage, it's up for grabs.
Entries close midnight May 31st.

Hi Tiff,

I have two photo's I took this morning the file says one is 5.9MB and the other is 6.6MB, and I can't upload them because the file is too big, how do I make the file smaller????

Hi Jade, most of your photo editing software will give you a function to resize, however I tend to use a program called FastStone Photo Resizer which you can download for free here

It needs to be somewhere around 200Kbs.

have another go with IPhoto and resize a duplicate of your pic and save it as a slightly different file name so you can recognise it when it asks you to upload.

Didn't think so :( Thats as close as I can get though and still focus, with max zoom. Just can't figure out how to get closer in. I might have to fiddle in photoshop as well.

I still can't get them anywhere near klb they stay at MB - is there somewhere i can email them to and have someone take a look and tell me what i'm doing wrong?
