DH's Canon has different display options - none, basics, everything. It has a button marked "Disp" which you just keep pressing until you have whichever of those you are after. My little Canon has two options - no display, everything - and has the same system, that is press the "Disp" button until you get the option you want.

Oh no! Gypsy.....that sounds like me with macro last month  but i did finally get one that was pretty close :D At first I was getting cranky with myself coz I had so many disasters so I decided to put the camera away for a bit and I wasn't even planning to take a photo of the bit of fungus that I ended up with - it was just there, I grabbed my camera and without too much thought I got a reasonably good macro.......I'm yet to give this one a try....hopefully we might see some sunshine today.

what a beautiful valley vista. All you need was for the sun to come out for that spot of light to make it all lite up.

Often the hardest bit is the waiting.... and its worth the wait for the sun as it's your spotlight in your picture.

So Gypsy. You have a good eye for the foreground interest, the middle ground where the sheep are and the mountain in the distance. You've got it girl, just wait for the sun to pop out.

OH Gypsy. the second one of the track leading your eye into the photo with trees either side is a rippa. That's called a leading line, meaning it directs your eye into the shot. You've waited for the sun and it pops the colours beautifully.

The only thing would be the horizon line should be straight in a landscape image, but if it's on the slope of a hill then I would make it look like its obviously on a slope, ie tilt the camera slightly so its more obvious.

Mate. YOU'VE GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, I'm shouting.... so frigging proud of you mate. You've stuck with it and now you've got a handle on landscape photography. You should be pretty chuffed with yourself girl!!!!!!!!!!!

The first image is a good attempt. Could you have moved to left a bit to have the gate in the shot, with the all the track in the image so it helps to sweep the eye to the left to look at the windmill. But I am wondering if you've found the best spot so the bush doesnt hide the windmill. You have foreground interest (the gate), middle ground (the two colours grasses and the sweep of the track(, and distance, (windmill, shed and sky.)
Good stuff.

And thank goodness you are putting up images, I hope you'll encourage others to get clicking and posting what they capture here. You are a leader my girl!!!!!!!!!!

much mwah.
Tiff :)
