Gypsy. honestly its easy. just need the very late setting sun and something of interest to shoot in those sun's rays. It could be a flower in your garden, or one of the sheep. ooopps. I may have given it away

Something higher off the ground would suit you better. Horse?? Cows??Got any climbing roses. Fence post. Or it could be a weed like I've done.

Have a look around now and write down any ideas so you dont forget them.

its still likely to be mostly cold and wet here I think but with the weather now who know what areas are most peolpe in ?

We are in winter atm and it rains most days but the sky is SO ALIVE!!

its great to get out there!!!

You will only need 5 mins of sun, just need it very late in the arvo.

If the girls still want it, we will go with next month. If I can work it where I live, it should work nearly anywhere!!

sorry lots again I have no idea how to choose what is best its so hard to get a shot of a sheep's eyes with out it being all nose

I like the first one best but he is standing much squarer in the other one or maybe just the head and not have to worry about the feet

Hi Larree. Firstly my apology for being a while to answer you. I've been away the last couple of days.

I absolutley love your quirky angle of the shot. Placing him in the bottom of the frame just spikes my interest straight away, as its a refreshing perspective. You do need to be aware of what's in the background as there is so much 'white' space (empty space around your son).

The ledge (?) next to his eye leads my eye away from your son and so that's a bit distracting. As is the frame of the door or window above his head. Usually in most cases, the cleaner and simplier the background the better as far as portraiture goes.

Prehaps if he was placed near an empty wall or hang a bedsheet over the back of the couch and use that as your backdrop.

For the couch idea, you'll need to kneel on the floor, and quite often be on your tummy for the shots. Getting down to the child's level so you can eyeball each other is much friendlier for them rather than standing over them pointing a camera down at them.

So just be aware of the background, and be sure to get the sharpest focus on the eyes. In this case the closest eye to you.

Gyspy. So Trip is the name of your model. love it.

I would go with the third shot, mainly because his face is larger in the frame and only a small part of the body. (thinks of head and shoulders of a person in a portrait.)

He's also lifted his head slightly so you can see his eyes. Have you tried kneeling down to get down to his level.(piece of cardboard from a beer box says green knees). Or if that is difficult take a small fold up chair for you to sit in, so you can get down to his eye level. Then your shots will look more 'personal' like your last one does. Good background, as its a bit blurred but not at all distracting from Trip. There is just enough detail to let you know that Trip is in his paddock. You could blur it more to make Trip more isolated from his background.

Still on the third shot, Trip is well lit and placed well in the frame. I'd say this is your best sheep shot yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
