Had the opportunity to take some more photos over the weekend as my DS was competing in a football Grand Final, we lost :( :( but the boys put in a great effort. Got some great shots of the team breaking through the banner.
What do you think Tiff?

Hey DanniT.

what a special moment you've caught for your son. And for you too.
Your shutter speed is fast enough to freeze them running thru the banner and to perfectly capture their excited faces without any blur. And your f stop is great so you can capture some of the background to give the occasion a sense of place (so you can recognise where it is in years to come).

The whites are blown out in the sky and on their shorts. I gather you didnt use flash as that restricts the shutter back to 1/200th of a second (or thereabouts). That would have helped fill in a bit of the darkness on the faces of the first 2 boys on the right.

You might have been able to save the white hot spots by either a bit quicker shutter (less light coming in) but you may have thrown more shadow onto those boys., or slowing the shutter back to say 1/200th sec and using the flash to fill. With the shutter back a bit, you might have been able to drop the ISO slightly as well.

really this is quite a good shot that captures the spirit of the day.

well done.

t :)

Belinda.
what a cracker of a shot.

about the only thing would be ( and I reckon you've cropped the shot on the computer to remove most of it) is the tree/bush coming out the back of her hair. I reckon you've used flash to fill her face with light, but it didnt quite get to her eyes to make them shine.

This is such a sweet shot. I bet you can't wait to scrap this one!!!!

cheers
tiff :)

Oh my gosh, I havent checked in here for a few days but wow girls!!!
I'm blown away by your pics...each and every one of them!!!

Here's my little effort of 'Charlie'! 12 weeks old and could NOT keep still! So out of 50 shots - I got this one good one!! LOL! Charlie is my gf's little puppy. We called in yesterday on our way home from holidays to have dinner with them for their 30th wedding anniversary (I was their one and only bridesmaid!) and my girls were so smitten with their new little addition (their kids had just left home - so replacement child! ) What do you think Tiff?? :P (I cant believe I produced a fairly non-blurry pic with movement - I'm usually SOOOOO frustrated by that!!)

what a top pick. you've caught his energy and his zest for life. I bet you're GF would love that in a frame that you've altered for them

wink wink.

top shot. small hot spot on his left leg (his leg, not the one on our right side lol) but other than that. crackerjack!!!

Proud of ya chick.
